To put it simply, my role as a residential designer involves understanding the details of a project in order to envision the bigger picture. I strive to efficiently bring projects to completion by finding designs that work best for clients' needs and budget. This includes considering elements such as lighting, space configuration, and natural light.
As a Certified Passive House Designer, I act as a liaison between clients and consultants, developers, and city permitters. I'm proud to apply my knowledge and expertise to create buildings that meet rigorous energy efficiency standards, reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions.
While clients may assume that residential designers have all the answers, much of my job involves coordinating with peers to find solutions. I excel in the permitting process, as I understand the steps involved and the time required.
At JBD, I've found an environment that fosters creativity and encourages innovation. I'm constantly adapting to new technologies and practices, striving to incorporate them into upcoming projects.
My passion for architecture began in high school when I built a Greek temple out of magazine paper. Working in construction with my dad provided valuable insight into the building process, which I later enhanced through my degree in Architecture and Building Technology from BCIT.
Bucket List:
On my bucket list is the opportunity to design a space that completely alters people's moods and emotions through its layout, exterior, and materials. An example might be creating a design journey that subtly transitions from traditional to modern as one moves through the space.
