A Vancouver Special renovation for a young, vibrant family of four was an exciting opportunity to blend modern functionality with a timeless yet lively aesthetic. Our vision was to create a home that feels welcoming, personal, and perfectly tailored to the family’s evolving lifestyle. By incorporating organic textures, vintage-inspired finishes, and soft, inviting edges, we crafted a space that balances comfort with style. The careful harmony of classic elements and modern touches was essential to creating a home that combines beauty with everyday practicality and grows with the family over the years.
Known for their darker, more confined layouts with limited natural light, most Vancouver Specials can feel closed off. For this project, our primary goal was to transform the space into one that feels light, bright, and welcoming, ideal for gatherings both large and small. By reimagining the layout and thoughtfully selecting materials, we introduced a sense of openness and airiness throughout the home. Natural light now floods the space, with a soft, bright palette enhancing the overall warmth and invitation.
The kitchen, the true heart of this home, became the focal point of our design approach. Functionality was our priority, but never at the expense of visual appeal. We integrated smart storage solutions to maximize space and efficiency while using natural materials like wood and stone to add warmth, texture, and character. Every detail, from cabinetry to lighting, was carefully curated to achieve a modern yet classic look that seamlessly flows into the rest of the home.
The result is a kitchen that not only serves as the hub of family life but also stands as a visually striking centerpiece. The design strikes a perfect balance between timeless elegance and personal touches, ensuring the space remains sophisticated while reflecting the family's unique needs and tastes. This home, with its fusion of modern and classic design, will continue to evolve with the family, standing the test of time while remaining as warm and inviting as the day they first moved in.

Jamie and his team did a great job on a complete renovation of our townhouse including the full redesign of our kitchen. Jamie's ideas to change the location of the cabinetry, appliances and island design have resulted in a beautiful and functional new kitchen that first the space perfectly. As new residents to Vancouver, Jamie washable to provide great access to a number of local product suppliers that offered wonderful ideas and the latest designs.
